Since May of 2015, I have been using separate RX and TX arrays in order to carry out various experiments such as the Moon Echo Project. The 2x13 RPOL RX array located in the backyard was setup on a simple umbrella base so I decided to install a short tower and make the overall setup more robust and permanent.
Very soon, I will be taking down the 2X14 array on the roof and use the 2x13 RPOL LFA in the backyard for both TX and RX. I intend to setup the 2M-1K2 PA right at the bottom of the tower in order to minimize the losses. That should add another 0.5dB to my TX.
In addition to the tower setup, I also redid the rotation system and used a much more robust pillow block bearing unit which enabled better alignment and a smoother rotation of the array.
This short clip shows the latest RPOL setup in action.
***WARNING: For Best Video Resolution, it is critical to select 720p HD resolution in the youtube "settings" at bottom right of the player. The 360p default setting won't yield good enough resolution to see the details. It will take several seconds before the High Resolution kicks in, so you will need to restart the video from the beginning when the High Resolution is active and select to view the video in "Full Screen Mode" for best experience...***
